First Friday Art Walk Events for Books & Crannies

We have a double treat for our First Friday event. First, we'll have Gayel Pitchford fiddling for us. She's also written a biopgraphy of Howdy Forrester called "Fiddler of the Opry". This is the first time that we've hosted Gayel and we are very happy to have her.

Second, we will be hosting Ryan Browning Cassaday and Jessica Cassaday. They are the authors of the advice book "Stop Wondering if You'll Ever Meet Him." Their website is www.stopwonderingbook.com.

Shop for STOP update

Here is some more information on our Shop for STOP event:

On Saturday, September 27, Books & Crannies will donate 10% of its sales to STOP. STOP is a local, non-profit animal rescue group. They have placed 60 dogs and 7 cats in new homes since the beginning of the year.

This event is a great (and easy!) way to support a worthy cause. Here's a plug for other participating businesses:

Radio Shack and It Makes Scents Candles and Gifts will donate 10% of their Saturday sales to STOP.

Editing Group at Books & Crannies

Tehachapi has a lot of writers. (We know! Just look at our local author section!) We've been wanting to form a writing group for a while and now it looks like we're going to be getting one together at last.

Have a manuscript that needs revision? Got writer's block halfway through? That's what our group is for. We will be getting together regularly for constructive revision and discussion.

While we will be focused on fiction, we welcome non-fiction authors as well.

What do you need to do to attend? You'll need to bring 4 things:

A Thank You to Tehachapi and a Preview

We had another successful Art Walk last Friday. Our guest for the evening was Eve Geisler. A special thank you to Eve for supporting the Tehachapi art community.

Our guest for the next Art Walk will be Gayel Pitchford. Gayel is a local music teacher and has written the wonderful musical biography "Fiddler of the Opry" about the life of Howdy Forrester. We are excited to host Gayel and look forward to discussing her book. The Art Walk will be Friday, October 3 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Author Eve Geisler & Artist Lauraine Snelling

First Friday Art Walk at Books & Crannies
We will be hosting long-time Tehachapi resident and popular local author Eve Geisler. Eve has written two mysteries concerning the exploits of a female private investigator. The twist? She is battling diabetes. "The Canal Murder" and "Local Boy Makes Dead" will be available for purchase and signing. We will be serving complimentary coffee, tea and chai. Be sure to come and meet Eve! Maybe she'll even give you a hint about her next mystery.

S.T.O.P Benefit Day

We're going to be hosting a S.T.O.P. Day at Books & Crannies on Saturday, September 27. 10% of the day's sales will go toward S.T.O.P. In case you've never heard of it, S.T.O.P. is a local, non-profit animal rescue organization. They always need volunteers, foster homes and financial aid to keep their mission going.

I'll be posting more details on the S.T.O.P. day as it gets closer.
