Some not-to-miss concerts coming up

Bill Staines will be at Mama Hillybean's Friday, Oct. 9, and recorded for Folkscene.  Bill is most noted out here for his song, "All God's Critters Got a Place in the Choir."  However, he is considered by many in New England to be a modern singer-songwriter Robert Frost. The poetry of his lyrics describes life on the farm and in nature, with an underlying message about humanity.  He also plays his guitar upside down and backwards! This is a rare opportunity to hear Bill Staines up close and personal on the West Coast.

Amazing Mountain Festival weekend at Hillybean's

Well, here we are at Mountain Festival time again...how time flies, as they say. And what a weekend of music at Mama Hillybean's! Friday, Stephanie Bettman returns. If you've heard Stephanie (and her band) you know that she is a truly gifted singer and fiddle player. She moves from bluegrass to jazz to contemporary folk to styles in between. Her take on bluegrass is on the softer side...really beautiful In my opinion. Highly recommended.

Oliver is a smash!

We saw  "Oliver" tonight at the BeeKay Theatre. To say we were impressed would be the ultimate in understatement! It was entertaining at every turn. There is so much talent in this town, it's just unbelievable. It was extremely well acted, directed and choreoghraphed. Even the lighting was expertly done.

The great thing about community theatre is that it never lacks in sincerity and heart.
